Change Strategies
Change can be good and bad. Sometimes change is required because it can help a business prosper. There are many ways to start change but it's difficult to find the best way. It's important to find the problem so that it can be analyzed which helps to generate a couple of solutions. It's useful to develop a strategy to make change happen. This is important so that if future changes need to happen, a business can realize how to go about the change and why the change needs to happen. Here are a few strategies on creating change.
Empirical- Rational:
This strategy assumes that people will follow their own self interest. However, it also assumes that people will listen to reason. Successful change can be achieved through communication.
Normative Reeducative:
This strategy assumes that people are social and accept cultural values. Change is successful when values are re- introduced and new ones are developed and committed to.
Power Coercive:
This strategy assumes that people will do what they are told to do or what they believe they are made to do. Change will be successful when authority is practiced and punishments are given for work that isn't done well
Environmental- Adaptive:
This strategy assumes people adapt to new situations and procedures however, they don't like losing or disrupting previous decisions. Change will be successful when people are moved from an old business environment to a new business environment.
